And the nominees are…

We are so honored that “I Don’t Need an Acting Class” has been nominated for a 2024 Voice Arts Award™️ by the Society of Voice Arts & Sciences for “Outstanding Arts & Entertainment Podcast”!

The Voice Arts® Awards is uniquely designed to honor the community of performers and craft professionals who perform, direct, produce, cast, engineer, and publish media where voice acting is a central creative element of the work. This program is similar to the Oscars, Emmys, and Tonys, where the work is entered in various categories, judged and scored by a panel of industry experts, and where the top 5 scores in each category become nominees. A final round of judging determines the winner in each category. The Voice Arts® Awards is an open competition that includes international languages. Several special awards (Voice Arts® Icon Award, Voice Arts® Environmental Award, and the Muhammad Ali Voice of Humanity Honor), are also bestowed. Nominees and winners are celebrated at the Voice Arts® Awards Gala, which is where the winners of each category are publicly announced. The gala is a ticketed event that takes place annually and is open to the public. The purpose of the Voice Arts® Awards is to provide a stage for international acknowledgment of the extraordinary skill and artistry that goes into voiceover acting and to hold up an evolving best-in-class standard of achievement to which the voiceover industry can continually aspire.

BERLIN. APRIL 2025.

Stella Adler Technique Intensive

with Milton Justice

  • Monday, April 14th - Friday, April 18th, 2025; 10:30am to 8:30pm

  • Saturday, April 19th, 2025; 3:00pm to 7:00pm

  • Saturday, April 26th;
    12pm to 6pm

In April 2025, Milton will be teaching in Berlin— live in-person— at Schott Acting Studio!

Through her work with Stanislavsky, Stella Adler developed a definitive and now famous approach to acting, having trained such acting luminaries as Marlon Brando and Robert DiNiro. Her exercises demonstrate the accessible fundamentals of approaching a play and a screenplay. From deciphering the core idea of the text, to exploring character, action, circumstance and background, each exercise propels the actor experientially through the evolution of a part. Each class will begin with basic technique exercise, and then will move on to approaching text.

Milton will be teaching a week-long acting workshop at Clap Class in Marseille! The class will be held in English. Must have experience in film, television or theater, and be fluent in English.

Monday, November 18th to Friday November 22, 2024; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Our Conversation with Mark Ruffalo

MARK RUFFALO GOES ROGUE IN POOR THINGS PERFORMANCE:

“I’M SICK OF MARK RUFFALO”

NEW YORK, New York — “I’m so sick of Mark Ruffalo. Whatever that is, I’m so sick of it. I

am so sick of him that literally there was a part of me that was flirting with disaster.”

On the heels of his Academy Award nominated performance in the film Poor

Things, Mark Ruffalo joined his former acting teacher and coach Milton Justice on the hit

podcast I Don't Need an Acting Class to discuss his process. He has since been nominated for an Academy Award.

“I’m always thinking I’m about four hours away from being fired!” He also lightheartedly

admitted that his co-star Willem Defoe, and even the film’s director, Yorgos Lanthimos

questioned his outrageous character choices. “Willem said to me first day on set, he’s like: “Are

you out of your fucking mind?”

In the end, Ruffalo was so grateful for the opportunity to take risks and push himself this far: “It

was so liberating. You’re always trying to throw your elbows out to stay one step ahead of what

people expect of you as an actor. I get bored, you know? And I wanna keep being challenged.”

Academy and Emmy Award winner Milton Justice and Voice Arts Award™ winning audio

producer Walker Vreeland, teamed up three years ago to launch the podcast, I Don't Need an Acting Class. Based on Milton’s book of the same title, the duo have released over 150 episodes

with listeners from all over the world. I Don't Need an Acting Class is based on Milton's many

years of study with Stella Adler and his current zoom classes, which are focussed on the actor’s

process. This very unique interview with Ruffalo is Mark’s opportunity to talk to actors about

how he approached this extraordinary part.
